These pictures were taken on June 12, 2005. We saw on the satellite radar that a storm was headed west. It
was moving eastward at about 35mph, crossing about a county an hour and charging right down I-80. We decided to find
a high spot for viewing the storm, so we headed west to meet up with it. We went to the Crete Exit on I-80, 20mi west
of Lincoln.

The storm arrives. It created a visible isolated storm-cell band, shown here in the bottom of the cloud.

As the thunderhead passed over us it gained shape and density. You can see the moist air wrap around in front of
the on coming storm by the lines of light and darker gray. It was so low that it seemed if we reached up we could touch
it.

This thunderhead reminded us of the movie Independence Day, when the alien ships moved over the cities and day turned
dark.

Then the lightning came and really brightened up things!

The rain started really coming down. We were in a spot that wasn't sheltered, so we were happy that it was just
huge drops of water and not balls of hail. In this picture you can see a little piece of lightning at the top.
The thunder from this bolt rocked the car.
